A few pieces of news for VDLI families:
- For teacher appreciation week last week, the PTO put together gift bags for all of the teachers and HPH collaborated on putting on a lunch for the teachers. Thanks to all the students and parents who participated in the spirit activities and shows of appreciation for our hardworking teachers and staff.
- May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! HPH has put together an AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) celebration calendar that will be shared weekly, with resources/activities/facts for family discussion for each day of the week. Please check out the calendar today and use the interesting facts and activities to celebrate Asian and Pacific Americans in our community and across America: AAPI Heritage May 10-14 (will be different every week) https://docs.google.com/document/d/13-Gecnf9ACLhL2l_AGwBdXG6dWeWAv0WIhRwRTE2voU/edit?usp=sharing
The calendar is also accessible on the Rose City Park school homepage, the HPH website, and the HPH and RCP-PTO Facebook pages.
- 5 HPH board members elected to two-year terms last week; thank you to all who participated in the voting. Congratulations to newly re-elected board members: Tri To, Bret Provost, April Luu, Quyên Huynh, and Barbara Wyse. Thank you to outgoing board member, Robert Hoang, for his time and commitment.
This has been a big year of achievements in the face of challenges, and HPH thanks the community, parents, teachers, administrators, and the RCP and RWH PTO/PTA for helping us make possible the virtual Tết, Read for the Roses and Bao Phi presentation, support for VDLI program funding/curriculum/capstone/anti-racism education and training, and Asian American Pacific Islander heritage celebration.
Wishing everyone health and joy as we move towards longer and sunnier days.
