Hello VDLI Families!
First, we want to thank everyone who supported the HPH Egg Roll Sale Fundraiser! We were able to raise over $4,000! RCP PTO would also like to share their gratitude to everyone who supported their Apples and Pears as well as their Pie Sale Fundraisers. Your support will help our students and school for the school year. We were thrilled with the turnout and generosity of families at the Trick or Treat and Food Drive event that took place at RCP on October 22nd. HPH warmly welcomes RCP’s new 2nd-grade teacher at RCP (neighborhood program), a wonderful VDLI substitute last year: Ms. Mindy Tran!

Dual Language Immersion Restructuring
Portland Public Schools recently sent out information that dual language immersion programs in the future will use a “whole-school model for K-5 schools instead of co-locating them with neighborhood programs”, and is planning to implement this model for DLI programs located in Southeast first, and then expand to elsewhere in the District. We don’t know yet if or how this may affect the VDLI program at RCP as PPS also noted in its newsletter that DLI programs that do not have enough students for a whole-school model will remain co-located for now. HPH is following this closely and will advocate on behalf of the VDLI program. If you have feedback or input on this topic, please contact us.
