On behalf of all current VDLI parents, the board of the VDLI parent support group, Hoi Phu Huynh (HPH), welcomes you and your child to the VDLI program! We are so happy to have your child join this amazing educational program and to have you in our parent community! HPH is a parent group with the aim to engage and support students and families in the Portland Public Schools VDLI program.
We know that there is a lot of uncertainty regarding next school year, and that you may have questions about entering a dual language immersion program during this challenging time. In particular, many parents may have questions or concerns about their children’s ability to learn in both Vietnamese and English remotely. In addition to reaching out to welcome you to the program, we wanted to let you know that last spring HPH developed a parent support sytsem for remote education, and we are now working to extend that system to help all children and families in next year’s kindergarten class.
We feel that the VDLI kindergarten teaching team is simply stellar, and last year they really went above and beyond to support families and students. Our aim is to help them with the additional demands of remote learning to help meet each child’s and each family’s needs. Please fill out the enclosed survey to help us understand what questions you may have, how HPH may be able to help you, and your interest and availability to help contribute to our parent support group efforts. Please click HERE to participate in the survey.
If you have any questions or would like to talk this summer with a current VDLI parent, please feel free to call, text, or email Barbara or Quyen. We both are parents of incoming kindergartners and also have an older child in the VDLI program.
